Our whole life. Right here.
In a society that craves attention, the little we have is enough for us. Because attention is a rare commodity. It is our compass, shining like a flashlight in a single direction – toward the Welzbach Valley, with its communities of Appenheim, Nieder-Hilbersheim and Gau-Algesheim.
This is where we’ve shaped our character; this is where we’re at home. In a place that not everyone knows, but that’s well worth the effort. There may be more convenient places to make wine, but for us, there’s nowhere more beautiful.

This special spot in the northern part of Rheinhessen is defined by the 13-kilometer-long Welzbach brook. Its waters and banks are teeming with fish, frogs, newts and crayfish, while dragonflies and butterflies flit about. A place of diversity that has sharpened our perspective and focused our attention on Riesling, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay: Grape varieties that thrive on exceptional soils, spread across more than 100 small plots – surrounded by old orchards and farmland. The cool nights and long growing seasons create ideal conditions for precise wines full of tension, terroir and distinctiveness. The Prussians already knew this when they immortalized the Welzbachtal valley and the Westerberg on a vineyard map in 1820.

This landscape has taught us humility. For what at first glance appears to be a limitation is, in fact, our greatest freedom. On a total of 30 hectares, we make wine that reflects this place – clear, expressive and unpretentious. Just like the people who live here.
